A deep learning pipeline that removes repeated watermarks from scanned documents while preserving text clarity — no blur, no artifacts, no retyping.

PROJECT BRIEF — Q3 ENGINEERING REVIEW 12 August 2026 1. Overview The proposed pipeline processes scanned pages in batches of 32, applying a learned mask to isolate repeated overlay artifacts before reconstruction. Text regions are detected first, so glyph edges are preserved while the overlay is separated from the page background and removed in a single forward pass. 2. Method A dual-branch encoder shares features between artifact detection and background reconstruction. The decoder is trained with an edge-aware loss that penalises any softening of character strokes, which keeps small type legible after restoration. 3.
